A taste of the Loire

You are a wine lover and want to learn about the Loire Valley vineyard and wines? You are a wine amateur interested in French and Loire Valley wines? You are visiting the Loire Valley but won't have time to cover all the different wine-making regions? This tour is made for you! It will allow you to discover the diversity of the wines produced all along the Loire river.

We will start with a tour of the family-owned winery and rock-hewn wine cellar, to discover the traditional method and learn about the French AOC (Appellation of Controlled Origin) system in general and about AOC Vouvray in particular. Then we will spend some time tasting 7 Loire wines served with local delicacies (Loire fish rillettes, various local cheeses and charcuteries, local desserts...). Most tours focus on one single region (if you go to Sancerre, you're likely to taste only Sancerre wines) whereas this wine tasting will allow you taste wines from 7 different appellations. This means you’ll get a good opportunity to get a more comprehensive understanding of the Loire Valley vineyard as a whole and to learn about the grape varieties, the types of soils and the AOCs (Denominations of Origin) in this region. The wine tasting will also allow you to learn how to read French wine labels.

In case you are a vegetarian, please let us know in advance so that we can adapt the local delicacies served during the wine tasting to your diet. If you eat gluten-free food, you are welcome to bring your own bread.
